Airtel’s MAMOth Failure!

Airtel Ghana recently launched the My Airtel My Offer(MAMO) Promo. I haven’t seen the TVC (not sure if there’s any) or heard the radio, but what I have seen one too many times are the print and billboard.

From their website, clearly the intent is to tell all ‘Airtellers’ that you know what? We have a unique offer for your unique self. It’s not mass-produced, it’s not made in China. It’s made with no one else in mind, but you.

That’s a potentially powerful message –if you communicate well. Honestly, I don’t see how this print does that.

A man is holding up his cute baby, who’s in a similar hat and eyeglasses. But come on, you don’t even need a professional eye to tell that the glasses were photo-shopped unto the baby’s face. It makes it look like an after-thought, which gives the impression that the whole offer itself is an afterthought.
